Homer, halibut capital of the world

End of the road on the Kenai Peninsula. Halibut signs on every storefront, gulls everywhere, and somehow the Salty Dawg is the most photographed building in town.

Homer, Alaska 59.6425, -151.5483

  • The Salty Dawg Saloon — a log cabin with a tall slate-shingled lighthouse tower — at dusk, with flowers along the entrance.
  • A weathered four-legged fishing tower in shallow water with seagulls circling and an angler casting from the rocky beach.
